One of the most important goals of Project Azraq is to improve the education about all aspects of our oceans. As Jacques-Yves Cousteau said “People protect what they love, they love what they understand and they understand what they are taught.”
Our team have developed a comprehensive marine education programme based on the species we are monitoring. By participating in the course, students can become more aware of the importance of the reefs, learn about marine life, the global threats to the reefs and what can be done.
In order to spread awareness of key ocean issues to as wide an audience as possible we open our doors for everyone to join our community presentations. These one hour presentations cover global and Red Sea specific anthropological and ecological issues. Plus at the end there is a chance for Q&A with our science team.
Check what our presentations are about:
Enter the mind of a Fish
Have you ever wondered how a fish reproduces or what they are capable of when it comes to self-defense. Discover the way a fish works, they are smarter than you think.
Red Sea Natural History & Marine Protected Areas
Learn about the natural history which has formed this region and about our protected areas so you can discover for yourself what is being done to protect them.
The Magical World of Coral
Discover the intricate formation of corals and how incredibly diverse they are. Their main role that they play within the reef ecosystem and how vital they are for our oceans.
Human Impact on Our Ocean
Our impact on the ocean is vast. Unsustainable fishing, pollution and climate change are just a few of the issue. However there are ways for us to lessen that impact.
Future of Our Oceans
The future of our oceans is unclear however with the rise of new technologies such as coral farming and fisheries much is changing.
